✯`*•. I hate doing this dishes but I hate silverware even more...
✯`*•. I loathe doing the laundry especially boys sweaty, stinky socks...
✯`*•. I wish I had a professional chef come visit my house at least one day a week...Okay, maybe five days a week. The other two I'd buy take-out.
✯`*•. My children drive me crazy and bicker with each other on most days...
✯`*•. I hate dusting...Period. Cobwebs and dust bunnies are evil.
So did you read all of the above? It's not a rant. It's not a complaint. It is, however, my life, and I wouldn't change it for the world. And with ALL of the chaos I swim in on a daily basis, I have even found the time to write some pretty kick ass stories.
How with all of the chaos do I fine the time to write, you ask?
Because I'm a damn SUPERWOMAN that's how! And because that mix of chaotic madness is what fuels my imagination. It actually inspires me.
And guess what? I'm not the only one!
There are SO many amazing indie authors out there who write phenomenal stories. Some work full-time jobs, some are single mothers or single fathers, some are married and raising families, and some are college students and with all of that they still bust ass to put pen to paper and create those stories we are all hungry for.
So why is this a problem, you ask? Well, it isn't. I think it's amazing! I believe that if you can combine all of those things listed above and still write your ass off, then you're a f*cking rock star!
The thing that toasts my ass is that some of these brilliant authors do not get the recognition they so deserve and THAT bothers me. A LOT!
I'm not sure about the rest but as for me as an indie author I can say that I'm not rolling in the dough from book sales. I'm lucky if I get paid enough in royalties to buy a gallon of milk, let alone buy enough groceries to stock my kitchen! Most of us aren't dripping in diamonds and rolling around in new cars. I'm lucky if I have enough money to replace my broken flip-flops. And don't get me started on what it costs out of pocket to get those books ready for release.
And let's talk freebies and reviews for a minute, shall we?
How many times have you received an ARC copy of an indie author's book and enjoyed the hell out of it? Were you aware that that author who gave you that ARC copy won't get paid for it? Most authors send out or give away MULTIPLE copies of their works and DO NOT receive even half of the reviews against the total of ARC copies that were given out. Why is that? You received it right? You read it didn't you? You might have even fangirled over the book and told all your bookish friends about it. Am I getting warmer? Okay, then. So where's the review? Why wasn't one left? And how about when an author posts a book for FREE? Did you get that copy? Where's the review? Seems to me that it's not a hard thing to do, really. Get it. Read it. Review it. Easy Peasy!
Like I said, we're not swimming in the benjamins, folks. Reviews to me are just as valuable as getting paid to write the books! LEAVE A REVIEW PLEASE! Hell, even if it wasn't your cup of tea, most of us would still like to hear your take on it.
All indie authors deserve more recognition than what they receive. They are some of the most honest, hardworking people I have ever had the pleasure of befriending. I am truly blessed to call myself an Indie, and have many people to thank for riding right along with me on this amazing journey.
Read and Review, folks! You will ever know how much we appreciate it!
Now I need to give a shout-out to a few indie authors out there! Check out their links below!
S.L. Romines lives in a small town in Central California, and if you blink you just might miss it. She resides on a ranch with her family which she lovingly refers to as the funny farm. Between getting dish pan hands, listening to three bickering teenagers, pretending that she’s a gourmet chef (her family would like to disagree), and trying to tune out the sound of twenty-seven deranged Guinea fowl, somehow she finds the time to write about crazy characters that even make her laugh till she cries.
